Now let's answer the burning question: Why are ceramic coatings so expensive? Well, there are 2 main reasons:
1. First and foremost, ceramic coating application takes TIME. The average ceramic coating installation takes about 10 hours...crazy right?
2. Automotive ceramic coatings are the hardest, most durable and advanced form of paint correction that exists! We're talking YEARS of protection.... not months!
What is a Ceramic Coating?
Since we are Detailers, we're tempted to get into the nitty gritty of what a Ceramic coating is, why it's the 9th wonder of Gambrills auto detailing business, but we don't want to bore you!
A ceramic coating is like a thick winter coat you put on your kids before they go sledding! It's a hyper durable, and extremely hard layer of Silicon Dioxide (glass) that cures the entire exterior of your vehicle's paint, glass, and other surfaces.
Not only do ceramic coatings give a rich, glossy appearance to the car paint that is absolutely unmatched, but a nano ceramic coating is designed to last somewhere between 3 and 7+ years depending on the coating you choose. ceramic coatings have two jobs:
How does a ceramic coating work & what are the benefits?
After the ceramic coating is applied to the paint, it is as if your vehicle has an extra layer of ultra-durable, scratch resistant, and hydrophobic skin. Ceramics are designed to protect against everything that touches the paint from the outside world: bird droppings, bugs, rain, pollen, surface scratches, and much more.
While normal auto detailing services can help clean and protect the paint temporarily, ceramic coatings form a sort of shield that protects your investment until the day it is traded which means more money in your pocket! Washing and maintaining your car is inconvenient and tiresome
So, after we spend $50,000 on a vehicle, we slowly watch it degrade more and more over time because we just don't want to keep up with it. We think it's crazy to pay thousands of dollars for a car, drive it unprotected, and trade it in for pennies years later.
All our protective coatings register to carfax and help increase the resale or trade in value of your vehicle. Another benefit of having a ceramic coating is you can expect to spend less time washing and maintaining the cleanliness of your vehicle.
What does our ceramic coating process include?
What does our process look like? Well there are a lot of steps but first we will wash the exterior of the vehicle.
Next we will perform an iron decontamination wash to remove all embedded metals that have latched onto the paint. Then a Clay Bar Treatment will help remove any contaminants stuck on the paint.
After that we will perform our paint correction phase. After removing as many scratches as we can and getting the paint back to the best condition possible we will prep each panel for the coating.
After the paint has been completely cleaned, decontaminated, and we've created a smooth surface through paint correction, a thin layer of liquid ceramic coating is applied to the paint, left to cure for 24 hours.
Ceramic Coating on my wheels? Why?
So why would you want to get your wheels ceramic coated? Well the main reason we suggest getting your wheels ceramic coated is because it's the best way to prevent brake dust from corroding into the rim itself
Ceramic Coating for my exterior glass? Why?
So why would you want to have your glass coated with a ceramic coating? Well if you want the water to bead up and run right off your windows then this is what you want. Having a ceramic coating put on your glass will also help protect against hard water spots from etching into the glass.
